Ethics in Mathematics and Science
This series of seminars aims to question the role and responsibility of mathematics and science in the current crises humanity is facing. The frequency of the seminars is still unclear at this date.
At each seminar, at least one scientist, philosopher, historian, economist, etc will have time to develop their point of view. To do so, the seminars will be composed of one part of discussion between the organizer (Jean-Baptiste Cadart) and the speaker, and a second part of question-answer with the assembly.

First Talk : Vladimir Lazić - Discussion and debate from “Where I stand on AI”. Thursday 29, 9-10:30 a.m. UTC+2 (Paris Time).
Meeting link: https://visio.numerique.gouv.fr/kjz-utnx-edu
In his essay Where I stand on AI released over the summer, Vladimir Lazić explains his choice not to use AI in his work, and analyze the behavior of mathematicians and AI companies through the lens of psychology and economy. Using this essay as a starting point, this talk aims to get a deeper understanding of the relation between the mathematical community and the AI companies, the moral values in science in general and the ways to resist both at an individual and a systemic level.
